Who is involved in the 2024 Telethon Home?

The 2024 Telethon Home was made possible thanks to a large and dedicated team. Satterley Group supplied the block in Clementine Estate, while many trades and suppliers contributed their time and effort to bring the project to life. Special thanks go to Blueprint Homes’ entire team for their dedication to make this project a success.

About the House

This home featured a contemporary rural design that perfectly suited the estate’s atmosphere. Each area was designed with attention to space and functionality, making it an ideal family home.

Sale of the Telethon Home

The home officially opened to the public on 31 August 2024, with offers starting at $950,000. The final sale price reached $1,175,000, with every dollar going directly to Telethon to support their vital work in children’s health.

Telethon Home Ambassador

Karter, our 2024 Telethon Home Ambassador, certainly lit up every room in the house with his cheeky and charismatic personality. He brought plenty of energy to the Telethon Home and we were delighted to have him as part of the Telethon Home team. We look forward to following Karter’s journey and hearing about his efforts on the footy field.

The Build Process

Our dedicated trades and suppliers worked tirelessly to complete the Telethon Home in time. Knowing the importance of the project and the impact on young WA lives was all the motivation our teams needed to deliver this wonderful home.

Earthworks

We carry out a site survey and soil testing before any work begins. Next, we ensure the block is level and ready for the concrete slab.

The Slab

We begin with stage 1 of our unique 3-stage termite treatment. Once the treatment has been sprayed, we can then lay the slab. There is still plenty of work for the Blueprint Homes team, including professionally sealing the concrete edges with a waterproof membrane to prevent rising damp.

Bricklaying

At Blueprint Homes, we use vertical cored bricks as standard in all our homes. The vertical cored brick is often reserved for two-storey homes because it’s stronger and more stable than traditional horizontally cored bricks. This results in less movement and ultimately, less maintenance.

Timber Roof Framing

All our roof timber is treated for protection against termites and European Borer. Once our engineers have designed the roof structure (based on the wind classification of the block), the roof carpenters begin building the roof. This stage completes the primary structure of the house and provides a visual of the home’s overall shape.

Plumbing and Electrical

Once the roof is complete, our electrical and plumbing teams begin installing the cables and pipework within the walls and roof space. The Colorbond® gutters and downpipes are also installed by the plumber.

Roofing

With the low-maintenance Colorbond® fascia already installed by the roof carpenters, the sheeters begin enclosing the roof frame with durable Colorbond® steel roof sheets. A secure roof means the house is weather protected and the attention shifts to work inside.

Glazing, Walls and Ceilings

Glazing is applied to all the aluminium windows, sliding doors and front entry door. Our plasterers prepare the wet areas for waterproofing and tiling, then the ceiling fixers install the plasterboard on all remaining internal walls. This is followed by the installation of the plasterboard ceilings and selected cornice.

Cabinetry, Tiling and Lock Up

All external and internal doors, shelving and robe fit outs are installed by the fixing carpenter. The cabinet makers install all cabinetry throughout the house. Wet areas are professionally waterproofed before any tiling begins. Our electricians and plumbers return to complete all the fittings and fixtures. The house is officially at lock-up stage.

Hardscaping, Landscaping and Furnishing

The site is cleaned and levelled in preparation for any hardscapes, including the verandah, alfresco, driveway and pathways around the house. Landscapers then complete the garden areas, including a fully automatic reticulation system. The final styling pieces are added to make this house a home.
